What is Medicare?

Established in the 1960s, Medicare is a government-sponsored fee-for-service insurance program primarily designed for senior citizens. The program comprises several distinct parts, each of which is described below:

    1. Medicare Part A covers facility-based care, such as hospital stays, emergency room visits, hospice care, and nursing home care.

    1. Medicare Part B covers outpatient treatments and services, including vaccinations, laboratory tests, mental health services, outpatient surgeries, durable medical equipment, and most other non-hospital medical services.

    1. Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) includes components of Parts A, B, and sometimes D.

    1. Medicare Part D covers prescription medications.

  1. Medigap is offered through private insurance companies and aims to fill the “gaps” left by traditional Medicare coverage.

Understanding Your Options While standard Medicare provides coverage for various services, you might find a different plan through a separate insurance provider that better suits your needs. If you’re interested in an alternative plan, we can assist you in finding coverage through either Medigap or Medicare Advantage. Both of these plans offer additional support via third-party insurers, and they are required to provide equal or superior coverage compared to regular Medicare.
